The olive tones of the décor rather suit the herbaceous theme of the restaurant’s name. The chef, Maxime Diebold, was previously at Pavilion Desom, where he took to working only with fresh produce. At the Basilik, the young chef pursues his ambition with a skillfully-done menu of French classics.

In addition to a terrine of homemade foie gras, the appetizers are mostly salads and savoury treats. For mains, a short menu designed for fast lunches features Kniddelen, vol-au-vent, cordon-bleu and burgers. Foodies with a bit more time can sample supreme of guinea fowl with red pesto on parmesan risotto; beef fillet; roasted cod, candied potatoes and white chorizo butter; or a creamy risotto with fresh vegetables and mushrooms.

Excellent value for money.
