The esteemed, and renowned, Knights of Epicurus continued their gastronomic tour of the Grand Duchy, seeking out the most delicious food in the most enjoyable atmosphere at the best prices. At Appayan we found all that and more. This small restaurant on a side street in Gasperich/Hollerich is easy to miss, but one should not. The Indian cuisine is authentic and delicious. The menu is quite broad, with many varieties so anyone should be able to find a suitable dish. There is even beef on the menu, rather rare for an Indian place. The Knights, of course, sampled a wide range of different dishes, each was delicious and none disappointed. The food was fresh, some was quite spicy, and presented very nicely, some on sizzling iron platters. The Chef is a young man from Darjeeling it seems, bringing a Tibet/Nepal/Mongol flavor to the style (the original chef went off to form his own restaurant elsewhere we understand). Along with the food we slaked our thirst with Cobra beer, as well as King Cobra, a strong (8%) version of the Indian classic lager. Some Knights also enjoyed a bottle of Luxembourg's finest white wine. The service was excellent, very attentive but not overbearing, a very friendly staff. The dining room is small, so reservations are a good idea, and a large group of happy men may be an overwhelming presence for couple attempting a romantic dining experience. The prices are very reasonable (for Lux), we ate and drank to excess (as usual) and paid 50 euro each (including a generous tip). Parking right in front on the street is easy. The restaurant, and toilets, is very clean and well-kept. The Knights of Epicurus were very satisfied and recommend Appayan highly!
