The renowned Knights of Epicurus dined at Deposito on a recent Friday evening. Drinks at the tables outdoors were pleasant in the sun, and the Bofferding (which we normally do not like) was quite cold and fresh, the best glasses of Bofferding ever. Moving inside to the dinner table, however, began to see things change a bit. We all enjoyed the mixed bruschetta appetizer: a green salad covered in cured prosciutto and surrounded by small toasts garnished with toppings such as artichoke, goat cheese, bacon-and-spinach. The specials were mainly seafood, and one of us ordered grilled swordfish while the others chose steaks and risotto. The steaks were OK (one Knight complained his was tough), the risotto was nice (and a large portion). The swordfish never came, though. As the main dishes were being served to his companions, the Knight who ordered the swordfish was told there was no more in the kitchen. The chef didn't know that 30 minutes ago when he placed his order?! Very disappointing. For dessert, Tiramisu was good, as was the chocolate mousse. The Tartuffo Noir tasted a bit off for some reason.
The wines are acceptable, the prices OK, but the spotty service and mediocrity of the main dishes leaves the Knights of Epicurus disappointed.
Keep watching for the next, highly-anticipated review of the next restaurant visited by the esteemed Knights in mid-September!
Onward Ho!
